About
PARKER’S ALLEY

Parker’s Alley is a bustling retail and dining destination adjacent to Shinola Hotel. Celebrating Detroit’s entrepreneurial spirit, the alley is lined with specialty curated shops, many of which are local, female-owned businesses.

The Alley’s namesake is rooted in history long before the bustling storefronts of Woodward. It is an homage to Thomas Parker, who acquired the lot for $1 in 1809 and became one of Detroit’s first Black landowners. In 2021, a plaque was erected in the alley to honor Thomas Parker and remember the historical moment.

LOVE LOCK FENCE

Parker’s Alley also features a charming Love Locks fence—a modern tribute to the romantic tradition popularized by Paris’s Pont des Arts bridge. Here, visitors are invited to leave a lock as a symbol of their affection or a cherished memory.
